Spring Mason Jars

Here in North Carolina it is a rainy, gloomy day! So I decided to paint some spring inspired mason jars to brighten up our house! Not too sure what I am going to do with them yet, thank God for pinterest!
To do this project I used some mason jars that I had already painted for a pinterest gone wrong project-hah! To get the paint to stick I first sand that mason jars with 120 grit sandpaper and then I always put a coat or two of primer on with a paintbrush. Since all of that was already done for me all I had to do was paint it the color I wanted it to be! Note: If you are going for the distressed look like I was make sure to first paint anything that you are going to distress the color that you want to show underneath. For example the four shown above I painted pink, white, turquoise, and white. After that I painted the main color on!
Here are the materials I used for this project:
Call me crazy but after using the paintbrush for the primer coats, I use a paint sponge for the final color! Don't ask me how I figured that one out, but it works like a charm every time! It also works great to "antique" the mason jar lids!
To do that all I do is paint the mason jar lid a dark grey, then take the "sponge brush" with some metallic silver paint and you should be all set!
Here is what it looks like after!
Back to the main part of this project! Painting the mason jar! When you have finished painting your mason jar the final color and the final coat (some colors may need a lot of coats) take the fine grit sandpaper and go over the areas you want distressed! That's it! Super easy project!

Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday! Lots of homework for me!! Cannot wait to be done with school! Just found out that I will start taking state tests for my teaching degree starting in July!! Have a great Tuesday
