Farmhouse Mail holder

Thank God it's almost Friday! What a week! I did have time to redo another piece of decor for our kitchen command center! I'm excited to show you guys the transformation this mail holder has undergone! I got this cute piece at hobby lobby two years ago with my sister (crazy to think we have been in our home for two years now!), when I was visiting back home! I got it 60% off because of some dents it had! Score!! It worked great in our kitchen when I was going with a red color scheme but now that I'm headed down a more neutral path I needed a change! I have been eyeing down a galvanized envelope mail tray at target for awhile now!
You can see more about this on Target's website by clicking here!
It's a steal right now at $14.99 plus 10% off but me being a cheapo, figured that I could make my own version with the mail tray I already had!
Here's how!
First I gave it a good dusting, its been sitting in the back of a closet for probably half a year! Then I took some coarse grit sandpaper and sanded it all!  After that I wiped it down with a lint free rag and painted the whole thing black!
Next I took a "sponge brush" and dabbed the whole thing with metallic craft paint! This is what I got!
I liked it but felt like there needed to be something to break all the "metal color" up! So I made these bad boys up on the computer and printed them out on regular printer paper!
After that I took modge podge and put a think layer of it on the backs of the "number decals"! Then take another thin layer and put that over the front of the "decals"! And that was it!
I have yet to hang this where it will eventually go because I have about a million ideas right now for the command center! Once I can convince my husband to help me make some things then I will have a better idea of where to put it! I hope I am not boring you all with my decor "redoes"! I promise that there is an awesome project in the works that has nothing to do with decor! Hopefully it will be done this weekend! Happy Thursday!!
