Diy Faux Crock

Its Monday and still raining here :( I hope you all had a great weekend and fantastic mothers day! I sure miss being able to spend special days like that with our family! Since it was such a rainy weekend there wasn't a lot to do so I decided to finish a project that I started about 5 million years ago! haha!
Here is the back story on this. When my husband and I first got married he left about a week later to go back to 29 Palms where he was stationed at the time! We had to wait a couple weeks for me to move down there since he had to sign us up for housing! It was rough spending the first couple weeks of married life away from each other! Then once he got the housing situation secured, my dad and I packed my little grand prix full and headed out to California from Michigan! I am so happy that we did that the memories from that trip are priceless! Anyways since we had pretty much nothing when I moved out there, (grand prix's are not very big and I had to leave a lot of our wedding gifts back), a utensil holder was one of our first purchases as a married couple. I know cheesy of me to still hold on to a utensil holder haha. Enough rambling though! Here is the before
Mainstays Red Tool Holder
At $5.00 there really is no going wrong! You can buy it here.
The picture above shows where I left off from when I started this project! My husband spray painted it white.
From painting our house we had a million paint samples going unused so I used Ivory brown by Valspar for this project!
Then I mixed some non-sanded grout in with the paint to make chalk paint!
Then I put 2 coats of the paint on it.
After that I printed the number three on a note card and had my husband trace it out since I am not at all good at that.
It turned out really messy but was able to fix it with a small paint brush.
Here is the final product! Eventually I am going to use it as a planter outside but with this yucky weather it might be a couple days until that happens!
Hope you have a great Monday guys! What do you think of this faux crock?
xoxo
