Kitchen Plans

Our kitchen and I have a love hate relationship. When looking back at these pictures from when we first bought the house, it makes me like our "changed" kitchen a little more! We "redid" the kitchen cabinets when we first moved in and had no idea what we were doing! Last year my father in law helped us tile the floor and now a days that's the only thing I like about our kitchen.
We have done a lot to this kitchen including new tiled floors, new lighting, and the cabinet color but it just doesn't seem "me" anymore!
First thing on the to do list is to take down the cabinet shown above and and some shelves in its place! Also update the paint color and add bead board as a backslash! Im would love to put subway tile in but over the years the cabinets aren't perfectly level and it would be a headache to do! So I am going to have to live with bead board, doesn't hurt its half the price of tile either!
For the cabinets we are going to add trim to make them look like shaker style cabinets! Then we are going to paint them white!
I have seen many people on pinterest paint their mismatched fridge to match their other appliances and it has turned out great! So we are going to give it a try! Wish us luck!
Excuse the Christmas wreath above haha! For counters we are going with a Formica laminate more than likely! It is cheap and will look better than what we have right now!
I am excited to show you guys the transformation! Since we will be moving in a couple of years and having to sell, we have to make the renovations appeal to more people than just us, it definitely will not be my dream kitchen and I am ok with that! One of the perks to leaving the military life will be buying our next home knowing that it will be our "forever" home! I cannot wait for that day! Until then I am going to enjoy everyday in this house trying to make it as much "us" as I possibly can! What do you guys think of the future changes? I would love to hear!
Happy Tuesday!

  2. I love your kitchen ideas. The light fixtures are gorgeous. I am getting a kitchen makeover right now because of a kitchen fire. And I am also doing open shelvings in my kitchen.

  3. Love the new direction you went with in the kitchen - can't wait to see the transformation. I just did counters in Formica that look like carrera marble and I absolutely love the look and the easy maintenance.
